Return Of Public Masses

To Holy Redeemer Parish

After over three months, the Parish of the Holy Redeemer will once again, from Wednesday (8 July) welcome parishioners to Holy Mass. The long wait is now over and the Parish clergy are delighted that they can now have a congregation at Mass again.

HOWEVER....there are restrictions on the numbers who can attend Mass at any one time, with the safe capacity of each church being: Saint Patrickís - 50  Our Lady of Lourdes - 50  Holy Family - 20

As such there is a requirement to book a place in a church for Mass.

This can be done online below or by phone on 01484 531483. Phone reservations should only be made Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, when the Parish Office is open. The number of slots has been split 50:50 between phone and online bookings, so if one is full there may be availability via the other.

Please do not call outside of office hours, as the clergy will not have access to the booking system, and as such will not know of the level of availability for Masses. Also, please do not leave voicemail messages asking for places, as we would not wish to miss any bookings.

At The Church...

When you do come to Mass there will be some differences. There will be hand gel when you enter, not Holy Water. The offertory collection will be taken as you arrive at church and not during Mass.

There will be no singing during Mass, which will also be shorter in length.

There will be no lay Readers, Eucharistic Minsters or Altar Servers.

If you do book for a Mass, please arrive as early as you can. We would like to avoid queues outside church when Mass is due to start, so each church will be open one hour before Mass starts. Details of all the Masses from Wednesday through to next weekend are listed on the bulletin. Beyond that there will be Mass on Monday 13 July at 10am at St. Patrickís and on Tuesday 14 July there will be Mass at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 12noon at Holy Family and 7pm at Saint Patrickís. The schedule for the rest of that week is as next week.

The distribution of Holy Communion - which will be under one kind only, and you are asked to receive the host in your hand - will take place at the end of Mass, and after which you will need to leave the church directly. Stewards will be on hand to help you get used to the current requirements. Please follow their instructions.

As previously outlined: If you are showing ANY of the symptoms of COVID-19 that have been outlined by the NHS - please do not come to church. We are doing everything we can to make our churches safe, all we ask is that you do the same. Similarly, we are advised that those who are shielding should also stay away at this time.

Please Note : Those wishing to come to Mass should be aware that the obligation to attend Mass on a Sunday is still in abeyance. Therefore, it is acceptable and indeed you are being asked to consider attending Mass during the week where possible, so as to leave the weekend Masses available to those who canít come during the week.
